Between standing at my work desk and taking walk breaks throughout the day, I’m on my feet a lot. And I’m always looking for the best shoes for myself and to recommend to family. Luckily, our team testers put in the time to help you find the best Hoka for standing all day!
Best Hoka Shoes for Standing All Day

Whether you’re standing for work all day or generally spending a lot of time on your feet, it puts a lot of stress on your feet.

Think about those days when you may have spent 7+ hours straight on your feet, and you couldn’t wait to kick your shoes off. This is because during that time, your entire body weight is resting on your feet. If your shoes aren’t made to support that, you’ll 100% feel it at the end of the day.

One of the reasons that we love Hoka for standing all day is the design of the shoe provides more stability to the foot for leg alignment without sacrificing cushion. The stability comes both from a slightly wider platform and you’ll often notice a little extended heel.

If you’ve had that aching feet feeling after a day of standing around, it’s time to make sure you have the right shoes. Over the last decade, I’ve had a chance to spend time using a TON of HOKA shoes and here’s what I would pick as the best Hoka shoes for standing all day.

Don’t just take our word for it, they also have the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance.

Why are Hoka Shoes Good for Standing All Day?

Walking and everyday shoes are often heavier because they focus on arch support and aren’t as focused on creating a breathable shoe as you might find in running.

But HOKA is going to provide you with both the support, the lightweight feel and the cushion.

When looking for standing-friendly shoes, you want a heel-toe drop that’s not going to put a lot of extra pressure on your Achilles and calf muscles. Hoka is going to vary anywhere from 5mm to 8mm.

Hoka Clifton v bondiNot only do I often use HOKA, but as a coach I’ve recommended them a ton over the years. The platform is just enough wider that it feels more stable and it’s one of the reasons it makes for such a great shoe for spending long hours on your feet.

  • Options for different cushion levels
  • Wider base provides more stability to the foot, preventing knee and low back pain
  • Roomy toe box helps as the foot swells to prevent blisters or hot spots
  • They are a durable shoe that will easily last after many hours of wear and tear

“Hokas are gaining popularity for their incredible comfort and cushioning, perfect for long shifts! Many nurses love the Bondi or Clifton styles for support. They really help reduce foot fatigue. I definitely recommend giving them a try!” – Marisabel Usnayo

In fact, there are a  number of podiatrists who recommend HOKA One One shoes!

“With a broad-based practice here in the Midwest, HOKA has been our go-to footgear for competitive athletes, charity runners, and exercise walkers for many years.” —  Mark Mondul – DPM, FACFS

5 Best Hoka Shoes for Standing All Day

If you’re standing all day long you might want to consider wearing compression socks, along with finding great shoes.

The idea is something that will help you maintain good alignment so you don’t have hip, knee or back issues along with tired feet.

While I have seen other shoes listed by another site as “the best”, they aren’t, and I know that site hasn’t actually taken the shoes out for a spin. So just know I’ve checked these out for your foot health!

#1 Best For Maximal Cushion – Hoka Bondi 9

For those who want to feel clouds under their feet, I give you the HOKA Bondi. In over 13 years of gear testing, I still believe this is the plushiest shoe that I’ve ever put on.

The knit upper is designed to be lightweight and breathable, while the outsole is engineered for maximum durability and grip. The Bondi is perfect for those who LOVE cushion and whose body will benefit from the added reduction of ground impact.

Sometimes it’s noted that a heavier walker may appreciate the additional cushion, but I think it’s more about what feels good to you. And if you have to stand on your feet all day long on hard concrete, the cushion really does help with those leg aches.

Hoka Bondi 9 FitWhile this is not a stability shoe, you will hear people mention that it provides great stability. This goes back to the wider platform that we talked about at the beginning.

This shoe is MUCH MORE plush. That might feel amazing to you or you might find that you get lazy with it. What does that mean? It means that while standing you could allow your posture to sink a little bit in to the shoe over time and get some low back pain. Again this means knowing yourself and how you move.

  • Weight: 10.5 oz Men’s, 9.3 oz Women’s
  • Heel Drop: 5 mm
  • Ideal for long days on your feet where cushion can help to reduce fatigue
  • Available in 6 colors
  • Available in wide and extra wide (in limited colors)
  • Available on Hoka.com for $170

#2 Best All Around Hoka: Hoka Clifton 10

This is going to be a shoe that does it all. If you need 1 shoe for both walking workouts, standing or your feet or even a run, then this is the pick.

It’s not as soft as the previous ones, but still has plenty of cushion to be on your feet, along with the support to keep you in good alignment while standing.

The shoe also has a lightweight design, which makes it ideal for those who are looking for a shoe that won’t feel too heavy (most walking shoes are heavier). Truly not always easy to find a combination of cushion and low weight!

The Clifton also has a breathable engineered mesh upper, which helps to keep the feet cool and dry, making it a good option for workout out in hot and humid conditions.

Hoka Clifton 10 Fit

  • Weight: 9.8 oz men’s, 8.0 oz women’s
  • Heel drop: 8mm
  • Natural stability to prevent overpronation due to the wide base of Hoka shoes
  • Fits a wider foot (I have a narrow foot and don’t find the shoe to be sloppy)
  • Available in 14 colors
  • Available in Wide in some colors
  • See all sizes and widths on Hoka

#3 Best Cushioned Stability for Flat Feet: HOKA Gaviota 6

As one of the softer stability shoes on the market, this has been a shoe our team is really excited about.

Instead of a harsh medial post, you’ll find the guidance is absolutely there, but feels a little different. With the H-frame design it feels more like it’s hugging your heel and giving you stability that isn’t just forcing your foot into position, but rather lateral support in general.

We like this because it still reminds you to go do all the foot, hip, ankle strength work that is going to help along side the shoe AND it doesn’t overcorrect. Remember a little pronation is natural and good.Hoka Gaviota 6

The Gaviota 6, with its 6mm heel drop, weighs slightly less than the 5. Listen we don’t think most folks with notice a big change in the weight because it’s not a lightweight running shoe, but we genuinely appreciate that designers are paying attention to the stability category!

The EVA midsole is also going to make this a really durable shoe. It’s another one that our heavier runners should find has a great lifespan and will happily carry you from a short easy run through a full marathon.

  • Weight: 10.25 oz Men’s, 8.62 oz Women’s
  • Stack Height: 39 mm
  • Heel toe drop: 6 mm
  • Available in 4 Colors
  • Available in wide and extra wide
  • Available on Hoka.com for $180

#4 Best For Knee Pain While Standing: HOKA Arahi 8

One big upgrade from the previous models is the support system Hoka opted for, switching from J-Frame stability to H-Frame stability technology.

This shifted the support from just the medial side (or inside) of the foot to both the medial and lateral sides allows the shoe to keep the material directly under the forefoot and heel making it a more balanced and less stiff ride, great for overpronators.

The different between the Arahi vs Gaviota is the amount of cushion. The Gaviota is going to feel a bit more plush, which for some people can also mean lower back issues if they sink in to the shoe too much as they fatigue.

Hoka Arahi 8 Overview

If you know that your foot falls inward while standing, this shoe is going to provide more support to help prevent that and save your knees and ankles from pain. When your foot or knee is falling inward, that’s going to create a repeated pressure that could lead to knee pain.

As always, my first reminder is that you need to do some strength work! But this is a good support while you are building.

  • Weight: 9.8 oz Men’s, 7.7 oz Women’s
  • Stack Height: 39 mm
  • Heel Drop: 8 mm
  • Available in 6 colors
  • Available in wide and extra wide
  • Available on hoka.com for $150.00

#5 Best HOKA Workplace Shoe Hoka Bondi SR

This is their slip-resistant version of that plush Bondi designed specifically for the workplace. That means you’re getting that plush feeling from the EVA midsole, nice padded tongue and all the features I mentioned above, but they’ve added things for those who are at work and may need more safety.

  • Water-resistant leather upper
  • Available in 6 colors
  • Available in Wide
